A Celebration of Yehudi Menuhin’s 90^th birthday

In collaboration with Blueprint Partners and the European Commission

PRESS RELEASE

In the impressive open space named after Yehudi Menuhin in the heart of the European Parliament, MEPs, officials from the various national and regional authorities, delegates of the national MUS-E associations and representatives of international trade and industry will gather to commemorate this event.

Yehudi Menuhin was born on 22 April 1916. To celebrate this date which would have been his 90^th birthday, different events all over Europe will take place in the countries where the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and the MUS-E® associations are active. To honour Yehudi Menuhin’s memory, we and Blueprint Partners would like to invite our friends to the highly symbolic venue of the Yehudi Menuhin hall.

The celebration will combine different elements:

§ 6.30 p.m. – Speeches by Mr Ján Figel, Commissioner for Education and Culture, Mr Enrique Barón Crespo, MEP and President of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, Mr Jean-Marie Cavada, MEP, Mrs Elly Plooij, member of the Board of the IYMF and senior counsellor at Blueprint Partners

§ 6.45 p.m. – Children’s MUS-E® Choir from Germany conducted by Chris Seidler, MUS-E® artist

§ 7.00 p.m. – MUS-E® international documentary (trailer): “Menuhin’s Dream”

§ 7.15 p.m. – 30 minute concert by several MUS-E musicians who created the music for the documentary, conducted by Thierry Van Roy, with Sabina Meyer – voice, Karim Baggili – oud and guitar, Nicolas Ankoudinoff – saxophone, Ingo Stanelle – saxophone and percussions, Manuel Calleja Bono – double bass and percussions.
